Highlights:

A family of communication software products that provide Magic Cap communicators with intelligent, remote access to e-mail systems, the Internet, legacy systems and databases over wireline and wireless networks.

Background:

Formed in 1989, River Run Software Group has established itself as the leader in powerful, mobile computing communications and network management products. It has managed consulting, software design and development projects for the largest computer and communications companies in the world, including Motorola, Sony, Citibank and IBM.

River Run's key strength is the innovative middleware architecture it has developed for mobile devices -- a critical component of its Magic Cap products. The company's development laboratory received ISO 9001 certification for the entire software development life cycle in the areas of mobile computing, intelligent agents, network management, communications and operating systems.

River Run is currently shipping three applications on Magic Cap -- its flagship application Mail on the Run!, Magic Connection Terminal Emulator, and the Magic Connection Software Development Kit.

Application:

"From a user perspective, Magic Cap's ease-of-use and intuitive environment is very impressive," said Dr. Trilok Manocha, president and CEO of River Run. "From a developer perspective, it is all object-oriented. We were able to take advantage of a lot of the operating system's function to create our products."

Mail on the Run! provides users with wireline and wireless access to the world's most popular LAN-based e-mail, including cc:Mail and Microsoft Mail, with Notes Mail on the way. The software uses the client/agent/server paradigm, with the client code running on the Magic Cap communicator, and the agent code running on Microsoft Windows 3.1, 95, or NT.

Magic Connection Terminal Emulator provides a full set of features to support host access of information providers, bulletin boards, the Internet and legacy systems through terminal emulation. The software emulates VT100 and VT220 terminals and uses Magic Cap's integrated modem to communicate with the host system.

Magic Connection Software Development Kit is a communication toolkit which enables developers to write connectivity-enabled applications to communicate with a wide range of legacy systems and corporate databases such as those using Oracle and Sybase. Access to these systems is provided through a set of well-structured application programming interfaces (APIs) that the developer embeds in his application.
